On the 27th January 2007, AIESEC CUHK organized a Multicultural Food Expo. The program started with a Lunch in a Restaurant in Shatin, The local people calls it "yamcha", which means having lots of dim sums and chinese tea. In Malaysia, "yam cha" means to have supper or a drink in the local stalls.

However, the dimsums in Hong Kong have so much variety, which to compare with Malaysia. It is exotic and very nice too..

After Lunch we head to the local markets and superstores to get all the ingredients to cook for dinner. So i bought some for myself too because I was supposed to prepare some Malaysian dishes and I decided to prepare Curry Chicken and Bak Kut Teh. Of course, I did not prepare alone, I have an assistant with me. Ren Chang was there to help too…

He helped to skin the chicken, cuts the potatoes and chillies. It was fun cooking, both of us actually cooking the 2 dishes for the first time. Well, It turns out good too.

The ingredients for the curry chicken are curry paste, coconut milk, chicken, potatoes and red chillies. meanwhile, for Bak Kut Teh are chinese herbs, garlic, pork ribs, oyster sauce, dark and light soya sauce and some pepper.

On sick leave

January 31st, 2007 by khawhuihui
I went to China yesterday morning for a workshop in the morning then at 12.00 we had our lunch in the hostel and we catched a taxi back home. well, of course 3 of us (in the OD team ) did not tell Kelvin that we left early. Actually it is good to leave earlier, instead of wasting the time in 301 doing nothing. so we left and catch a taxi at 1pm to Huanggang and i got home at 3pm…cool right..
It was such a good feeling to be home early. I went to bed about 4pm and wokeup to have dinner and watched TV drama, goes t the library and went to bed and woke up again at 2.30 am because i was having such a pain on my right jaw. So, i took some medicine and went to bed again.

But today i took leave….hehehe…. i texted Kelvin that i won’t be at work. As usual, i went to the doctor. It was funny, when the Doctor started asking me, "how are you?", what type of question is that? But i answered "OK?". then i told him that i was having pain on my right jaw, I felt painful when i tried to swallow, i also had headache which causes me to wake up early in the morning, and some flu. So he did some check up and asked me a few questions. He asked " do you feel pain when you swallowed?, can you open wide your mouth?". hahahha funny right, so i repeated my answers. Then he said that i have soft tissue in my right jaw which causes the pain. So the soft tissue was an infection of the flu. But i still visited the same doctor, I think he is cute although he puts on a face mask….hahahha.
Anyway, it is a good habit to visit the same doctor.

After the medication, I felt a little better although i still cant really open wide my mouth…
I took the chance to go to the library and borrowed some books. the names of the books are as the following:
  1. Drop the Pink Elephant by Bill McFarlan: 15 ways to say wha you mean …and mean what you say.
  2. QBQ! (The Question Behin the Question) by John G. Miller: eliminate blame, complaining and procastination
  3. Learn to write chinese characters by Johan Bjorksten
  4. 101 American English Proverbs
  5. Mastering German by Antony Peck
  6. How Buffet does it by James Pardoe: 24 simple investing strategies
A total of 6 books to finish, actually pretty a lot for me and it will take so much time before I could finish all of them.

3rd lunar year in HK

February 5th, 2006 by khawhuihui

my chinese new year away from home!

well everything went well apart from being together with my family, relatives and friends back home.

however i have new pool of friends here. my colleagues, AIESECers, SNs, etc.

i had "tun yuen" with friends in Hong Kong. went outing too. it was really fun. in Hong Kong they have this market which has so many stalls which sells lots of things. from selling flowers, drinks, cookies, windmill and some cute items. it was really crowded with ppl. the stalls were operated mostly by University students. the rental for the stalls for few days can cost up to HKD 20000.

on the 29th January i went with my colleague to watch the chinese new year parade. they have about 37 cars parading…some may seen it on Malaysian TV channels..i took lots of video on it…it’s very diffirent than in Malaysia. the crowd is so energetic….cheering, clappings and etc.

on the following day, i joined the Aiesecers to Peng Chau island. Peng chau is a very small island. i went there to have seafood….then at night we took the boat ride about 1 hour to get to tsim tsa tsui so we could catch the fire works display at 8pm…

on the third day, much better. i went to the race course in Shatin….

i went there with 2 colleagues…they were there for the 1st  time too. but we did gamble a bit…making decision on which horse to bet..

wah2 am adi…ned to go to bed..to be continue…………..

searching for harddisc

January 20th, 2006 by khawhuihui

finally it’s friday.after hectic and busy week, it’s time to rest….

chilling here with my flat mate and enjoing our McDonald meals during dinner and walking around Kingswood Ginza, the nearby mall.

going online using my friend’s laptop now…how i wish i can do it in my very own room. well this is because i have to replace my spoilt hard disc. after doing some surveys, it cost about HKD 800 for a 60 GB and 5400 rpm had disc.

is it cheap? well i thinkit’s quite reasonable and the ppl herefinds it cheap. luckily i work here…so i don;t have much problem with my financial…

i shall buy one soon…so i could go online in my room again..

to be continued.

so it’s not so happening as i thought it would be…
i also went to sham shui po, they had an IT fair last weekend..it’s smething like PC fair but they dun do it in halls like PWTC.
they only have some stalls on a street…but sham shui po is very famous to purchase computer stuff something like Low yat…
but their building is so small..and packed with ppl….
oh ya… HAPPY NEW YEAR…
i’m fine here…..just cold…and  the humidity is low…
my colleagues are very nice…they did a welcoming party when i started work here.most of my daily conversation here is still in english….but i’m learning some chinese characters, so i know what’s in the menu…:P
my superior is willing to teach..so i’m lucky that everything went well ….
chinese new year is approaching, i will miss the CNY in msia. but i will still enjoy myself here…i met a lot of friends from other nationality….so it’s a global network here.

just now, i went to a tram (the train without roof top) party…..so we were having party on the roof of the tram….the tram will move around the western district of hongkong island n the journey is about 2 hours….purposely rent the tram….not cheap also leh….i have to pay HKD90 including makan lar…n the tram can only fits about 25 ppl. quite cool…. makan sambil sight seeing…

on christmas eve i  went to mongkok…the things there are so cheap. i bought a brown boots for HKD 100 and a winter jacket for HKD 50.so cheap….
